Motor Rail Simplex No. 7902 Amey
Amey shortly after arrival at the OKLR, 1st March 2025
MR.7902 was ordered by ICI (Alkali) Ltd's Purchasing Department, Northwich, Cheshire, dispatched to Murex Ltd, Rainham, Essex on November 3rd 1939. MR.7902 was built with a number of special options requested by the purchaser, these included a reduced height cab to be under 6' 1" to fit within the restrictive loading gauge at Rainham, and to be gauged to 2ft exact rather than the more common 600mm gauge. MR.7902 was painted Naval Grey and numbered 101 from new.
In the early 1970s MR.7902 was moved to the Llanberis Lake Railway, where it was used to lay cables alongside the lake in association with the construction of Dinorwing Power Station. Whilst at Llanberis it carried No. 17 and the name 'Garrett'. During the 1980s MR.7902 was moved to the Brecon Mountain Railway. It was renumbered and renamed to No. 6 'Baldwin' whilst at the Brecon Mountain Railway.
In late 1991 MR.7902 was purchased by Alan Keef Ltd. It arrived in a completely dismantled state. Due to the condition of the engine Alan Keef Ltd replaced the original Dorman 2DL engine with a Dorman 3LB engine and clutch from a 60S locomotive. MR.7902 was named Brecon and operated as part of the Alan Keef Ltd. hire fleet, seeing hire use at Murphy's, at Woodhead Tunnel between December 1994 and March 1995, and Rare Stone at Chilmark between June 1995 and December 1995.

In 1996 MR.7902 moved to Legoland Windsor Resort. The ride specification for Legoland's 2ft gauge railway required a back up locomotive capable of hauling the set bak to base in the event of failure. MR.7902 was named Amey after the daughter of the first Facilities Manager at Legoland Windsor. Amey spent most of her time at Legoland on works trains. In 2013 Amey suffered a clutch failure, and has been out of use in storage ever since.
In February 2025 Legoland Windsor donated Amey to the Old Kiln Light Railway. Amey is currently awaiting space in the workshops, where a full overhaul to operational condition will commence.
