HE7012 Wey Valley
AD37 - 'Wey Valley' - HE-7012
Built in 1971 for the Ministry of Defence as part of a batch of five hydraulic drive locomotives. HE7012 was numbered AD37 by the MOD and first saw service at Eastriggs Ammunition Depot in Scotland, replacing earlier Ruston type locomotives In 1988 AD37 was overhauled and rebuilt by Andrew Barclay in Kilmarnock, Scotland. As part of this rebuilt it gained the Andrew Barclay rebuild plates it still carries to this day. AD37 was transferred to Lydd Ranges in Kent, where it was used for moving firing targets around the ranges. AD37 moved to the Old Kiln Light 6th July 2007. It was named ‘Wey Valley’ after moving to the OKLR and has been repainted in a green livery similar to that it once carried in MOD service. AD37 underwent a major engine rebuild from 2019 to 2023 and now sees regular use on the railway’s passenger services.
